Bunny at home.

Oil paint on canvas 18x24", new in my etsy shop.  I read all 4 of John Updike's Rabbit novels a couple years ago (oddly I finished right around the time Mr. Updike himself passed away so it truly felt like a double sort of loss for me).   I would love to re-read them all again sometime, if only there were more hours in the day.  I was trying to capture the mood of the first novel, Rabbit Run, with this portrait and try as I might, I could not think of a better name for her than Bunny.

My favourite babysitter was named Bunny. She was about 17, blonde, very fashionable, and heaps of fun. How could someone named Bunny not be?

Love her eyes and her 'home bar' in the background. Now you've got me wondering about those books.

ps Our teacher's aide in 2nd grade was 'Bunny' and I always wondered how she got that name :)
