Olive "Bubbles" Broadhurst works on her routine.

Okay, so this piece was really just an excuse to paint more balloons :) This is Olive before she met and married George.

I'm sure you've heard this before, but I love your piece titles---they're like little stories, or like great first lines to stories/novels. Lately, one of my favorite first lines from fiction is "In walks these three girls in nothing but bathing suits." A great story called " A & P" by John Updike , follows that line. Anyway, just recently found your blog, and I love your work!

Thank you Blue Bicicletta!! I just read A & P online just now, I love it!!! I just finished reading Updike's 4 Rabbit Angstrom novels a couple months ago and it is just full of underlined phrases that I found moving. He was such a great writer. I did a painting fairly recently about awkward silences that I was trying to capture the feeling of Updike's writing in it. Thank you for commenting :)
