I made a new friend today

If I identified him correctly, I believe it to be a Nashville warbler.  He hit the window but made a complete comeback after about 20 minutes of being held.

he's darling! You seem to have had quite a few birds crash into the house this year!

Thank you Annamaria, Elizabeth and Holly! I think we've had more crashes as our bird population has more than doubled since last summer. I imagine is has something to do with the 415 POUNDS of seed. Our local feed store keeps up with what you purchase.

I think he did it on purpose...he has dreams of being an internet star. :) Your photos are awesome!!!

We had a Yellow Finch hit our front door last week. Poor little fellow was not so lucky. :(

I'm so sorry about your yellow finch, Lisa! We've had several others that didn't make it, an oven bird, cat bird and a rose breasted gross-beak. I guess accidents are bound to happen living in a glass house and hundreds of birds feeding every day.

This bird has been identified correctly at last by the the Cornell Lab of Ornithology site as a Common Yellowthroat. If you don't know their site, it is great, https://secure3.birds.cornell.edu/Page.aspx?pid=1061
and they are also on Facebook.

Sami - you are so funny! I was imaging a Snow White moment when I tried to feed some chickadees by hand a month or two ago - it wasn't at ALL what I expected. Instead of fluttering down and gently landing on my arm or hand, a tufted titmouse practically dive bombed into my face!
