The Birdsall children, summer of 1922.

oil on panel, 12"x17"

I have long been obsessed with sailor suits and lately I have run into them everywhere.  I recently watched The Lost Prince, then a flickr friend posted a gorgeous family photo which was a much more direct inspiration for this painting.  I just started a book on the Mitford sisters which I'm sure will inspire an entire series of paintings.

I know it is only Thursday, but have a great weekend!

Hey, I wore a sailor top as part of the uniform for CGITs back in the 60's. I loved it and thought I was pretty cool wearing it. Stop laughing! :)

What amazes me about your work is how you imbue your characters, both human and animal with an inner life: there is stuff going on behind their eyes!
