Jacques, the beginning of the French portraits

I've had a crush on Jacques-Yves Cousteau for as long as I can remember. In fact I have crushes on many dead French men, thus the beginning of a new series of portrait paintings.  Feel free to share your own French crushes in the comments, I'd love to hear about them!

This was the first one painted and my favorite of the two, my husband loved it so much, it immediately became a part of his own art collection.

Version two, not quite as happy with this which means I'm going to have to paint him again, but after doing several others first.  Coming next are some actors and philosophers/writers.

OMG these are just WONDERFUL! We're big on Jacques here (my husband is an avid scuba diver).

As for French crushes, mine dates back to the late 80s when we inherited a delightful French exchange student from friends who introduced me to the yummy heartthrob Etienne Daho. Boy, was I in love! :)

I love Jacques! Fantastic painting. His expression and that octopus are wonderful. Colors too. Cannot wait to see more of these French men. Can't think of a French crush at the moment, I'll have to give it some thought.

The first one captured the Frenchmen's arrogance.
No crushes on any French men....unless you count Johnny Depp...he lives in France!

My French "crush" is the actor Jean-Hugues Anglade.

Cheers from Germany.

Ooh, I love that first one too! My favorite is Jean-Marc Barr. He was in the late 80s movie, The Big Blue. (it's about another fabulous French 'man of the sea', Jacques Mayol. He was quite a trailblazer in diving.)

Looking forward to seeing more of the French gents.
