"I wish I could write a beautiful book to break those hearts that are soon to cease to exist: a book of faith and small neat worlds and of people who live by the philosophies of popular songs." — Zelda Fitzgerald

4"x4" oil on wood

I have to say I'm having as much fun choosing the quotes as I am painting the portraits.  My favorite combination - words and images.

These are so good! I love the quotes too. I'm a sucker for quotes. I just saw this great portfolio of funny work by Dave Eggers...animals with weird little quips...you would appreciate.

I love this series... the era of these women and the lives they led are endlessly facinating. Great quotes too!

I'm loving the portraits and the quotes are just icing on the cake! Just read a book you might like called "Everybody Was So Young" by Amanda Vaill, about expats Sara and Gerald Murphy. They were friends and benefactors to Scott and Zelda, Hemmingway, Picasso, Dorothy Parker and many others. It's a really interesting story.
