Tribute to Dziga Vertov and his wonderful film with the same name. Just watching it last night awakened my creativity for collage.

Man with the Movie Camera

I watched one of best films ever last night! This film capture so much in just over an hour, it needs to be watched over and over again to see it all. Dziga Vertov captures the magic in the every day, here a day in Moscow in 1929. What an incredible documentary of life.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to Judy Blume

Wow, they just interviewed Judy Blume on NPR, today is her 70th birthday!!! When I was a pre-teen, my sister Melody gave me a 5 book collection of Judy Blume books and they were all so good. My most frequently read of the 5 was most definitely "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret". Along with probably millions of young girls all over the world through the decades, I tried the exercises to increase my bust. I must not have done them correctly, alas. Like all teenagers, I felt misunderstood and put upon and wrote Judy a 3 or 4 page letter in longhand on paper torn from one of my school notebooks telling her my life story I guess. I never expected a reply but imagine my shock and delight to find a response from her one day in our mailbox. Her actual name was written on the return address! She enclosed a standard fan photo but did write a personal note to me. I have no idea if I even have it any longer, I am lousy at caring for things like this that certainly deserve it. Anyway, happy birthday to a wonderful author!

Lana Turner Double Feature

Two great movies though if I had to choose one of the other, it would be Madame X. The costumes and set design alone got me to watch it a second time.

I Love Jean Arthur's Voice

Nothing makes me happier while I paint than watching/listening to old movies. I usually play ones I've seen before so I don't have to watch closely. This week I've enjoyed re-watching "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington" and "You Can't Take it With You", both starring JImmy Stewart & Jean Arthur, two of my all time favorite Hollywood stars!
